Senior Data Engineer

• Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, including data modelling, performance tuning, cost optimization, clustering, and security.
• Solid proficiency in Power BI, including semantic model building (DAX, Power Query), enterprise report design, row-level security, and Power BI service use.
• Proven experience building and operating production ELT/ETL pipelines with tools like dbt, Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent.
• Expert-level SQL skills and working knowledge of a general-purpose language, preferably Python, for data processing and automation.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI-driven development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude) to improve engineering velocity and quality.
• Strong focus on data quality and observability, with experience building monitoring, alerting, and testing into data pipelines.
• Ability to work independently on well-scoped initiatives from ambiguous requirements to reliable data products.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for translating technical data concepts and collaborating across time zones.

Nice to have:

• Experience in regulated industries such as finance, accounting, or fintech with data governance and compliance awareness.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and database mirroring from Azure-hosted sources.
• Knowledge of cloud-native architectures on Azure or AWS, including Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, AWS Glue, or S3 data lake patterns.
• Experience with streaming or event-driven ingestion using Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, or similar technologies.
• Understanding of Responsible AI principles and building data infrastructure for auditable AI/ML pipelines.
• Contribution to open-source data tooling or interest in modern data stack trends.

• Design, implement, and maintain ELT/ETL pipelines moving and transforming data from operational systems into analytics-ready datasets in Snowflake.
• Develop enterprise-grade Power BI reports and dashboards with semantic models, row-level security, and governed BI layers.
• Contribute to evolving the end-to-end data platform architecture ensuring scalability, cost-efficiency, and reliability.
• Apply best practices in data modelling producing modular, well-tested, and documented models.
• Utilize AI-driven development tools like Cursor and Claude to accelerate pipeline development and improve quality.
• Implement data quality frameworks, automated testing, and monitoring within pipelines to catch issues proactively.
• Perform code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing to raise team standards and grow technical leadership.
• Collaborate effectively with Software Engineers, Product Managers, and Finance stakeholders to deliver reliable data products.
