FinOps Cloud Engineer

The company is involved in R&D initiatives covering AI, Blockchain, Data Science models, and mobile-first applications.

• Strong knowledge of Azure core services, identity, networking, governance, including Log Analytics, Azure Monitor, Diagnostic Settings, Storage Accounts, Event Hub, Sentinel, Azure Policy, and Cost Management.
• Good understanding of AWS (CloudWatch Logs, S3 lifecycle, Cost Explorer/CUR) and GCP (Cloud Logging, Log Router/Sinks, BigQuery, Storage lifecycle policies, Billing exports) cost drivers and pricing.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, and policy-as-code.
• Practical knowledge of FinOps principles including cost allocation, showback/chargeback, optimisation levers, and governance.
• Understanding of cloud governance, compliance, and how to implement guardrails.
• Hands-on experience with at least two public clouds including native logging and monitoring services.
• Strong understanding of logging/observability architectures, including log ingestion, routing, retention, and storage cost drivers.
• Proven ability to analyze logging data at scale to identify cost drivers and deliver cost reductions.
• Experience building and deploying automation at scale using Python, Bash, and/or Terraform including CI/CD and repeatable deployments.
• Skilled in producing savings forecasts, business cases, and structured optimisation proposals.
• Strong communication skills for presenting technical analyses and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Experience working in highly governed enterprise environments following risk, compliance, and change control frameworks.

• Certifications in AWS, GCP, Azure.
• FinOps Foundation certifications.
• Experience in financial institutions.

• Identify opportunities for cost optimisation across ingestion, retention, tiering, sampling, routing, and exclusion rules prioritizing by ROI and risk.
• Implement changes via automation/Infrastructure as Code with rollback plans and validation.
• Build and deploy automation for logging and storage cost optimisation across a multi-cloud enterprise estate.
• Access and analyse logging data using native cloud tools to identify cost drivers and reduction opportunities.
• Produce optimisation proposals with projected savings forecasts.
• Operate within client governance and compliance standards, obtaining approvals before changes.
• Support tagging and allocation model improvements for chargeback/showback accuracy.
• Define and maintain policies and guardrails like retention standards, quotas, and budget alerts.
• Run optimisation sessions with platform and application teams to agree on actions, timelines, and savings.
• Produce executive-level reporting for stakeholders on trends, forecasts versus actuals, and risks.
• Present technical findings and recommendations to cloud platform leads and senior engineers.
• Create runbooks, controls, and documentation ensuring compliance and risk control.
• Monitor for cost regressions and automate drift detection.
