Senior Python Backend Developer

payabl. is a licensed financial company specializing in global payments and multi-currency banking solutions. They provide a unified platform called payabl.one for financial services and have principal membership with card schemes.

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with strong Python expertise.
• Proven experience building and scaling microservices architectures.
• Strong knowledge of FastAPI or Django.
• Experience working with AWS including services like Lambda.
• Strong experience with Docker and containerization.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitLab.
• Understanding of distributed systems and high-load environments.
• Experience designing and optimizing systems for performance and scalability.
• Solid experience integrating third-party APIs.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills for remote work.
• Experience in fintech, payments, or financial platforms.
• Experience with high-throughput systems such as trading, payments, or real-time processing.
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture including Kafka and messaging systems.
• Experience mentoring or supporting other engineers.

• Design and implement scalable Python microservices in a distributed architecture.
• Build and optimize high-performance backend systems, ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Integrate and manage third-party APIs and external services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical solutions and system designs.
• Work with AWS services such as Lambda to architect and deploy solutions.
• Improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Lead and contribute to code reviews, ensuring high engineering standards.
• Identify system bottlenecks and improve performance and scalability.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues in distributed systems.
• Contribute to technical discussions and guide best practices within the team.
