Lead Data Engineer - Databricks Platform

• Degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or a comparable field.
• Several years of experience in data engineering with ownership of technical leadership or senior engineering responsibilities.
• Deep knowledge of Databricks and Apache Spark, including performance tuning, workload management, and Delta Lake.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
• Application of software engineering principles such as testing, CI/CD, code quality, observability, and automation to data platform development.
• Proactive and empathetic with clear communication skills and ability to inspire and collaborate in an agile environment.
• Proficient English language skills (B2 level).

Nice to have:

• Experience with Spark Declarative Pipelines and Declarative Automation Bundles.

• Define and drive the technical evolution of the enterprise data platform ensuring scalability, reliability, maintainability, and cost efficiency.
• Lead the Databricks modernization journey, migrating existing workloads toward Spark Declarative Pipelines and modern engineering patterns.
• Design and implement core platform capabilities, review critical code contributions, and set engineering standards across the data ecosystem.
• Optimize platform performance, cluster utilization, workload efficiency, and overall Databricks costs.
• Support engineering teams and stakeholders in solving complex data challenges and translating business requirements into technical designs.
• Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, effort estimations, and deployment processes aligned with product goals.
• Foster innovation by evaluating new technologies, promoting automation and DevOps practices, and identifying and reducing technical debt.
