Principal Software Engineer - Search Infra - Elasticsearch

• Experience leading technical projects in search infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Proven knowledge in building and operating sophisticated search platforms.
• Experience mentoring expert engineers with technical and professional guidance.
• Ability to define long-term technical visions for core search or retrieval systems collaboratively.
• Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Lucene, Solr, or similar search and indexing technologies.
• Strong skills in core Java, advanced data structures, concurrency, and newer language features like lambdas.
• Capability to work autonomously from concept to project completion.
• Experience with large-scale data or search systems and understanding of their operations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for distributed team collaboration.

Bonus Points:

• Prior experience building with Elasticsearch and understanding of search and information retrieval theory.
• Experience working with open source projects, source control workflows, and continuous integration.

• Define, lead, and contribute to the evolution of core search and indexing capabilities in Elasticsearch.
• Research advances in search infrastructure, data structures, and retrieval algorithms.
• Collaborate with partners and product teams to shape the long-term technical vision for search.
• Drive the roadmap for Elasticsearch's indexing, query execution, and relevance layers.
• Act as a domain expert within Elasticsearch, continuously improving relevant areas based on insights.
