Senior Security Engineer

Qualtrics creates software for Experience Management serving over 18,000 clients globally. The Security Operations team supports detecting, triaging, and responding to security threats across the global environment. The team embraces innovation, collaboration, data-driven approaches, and professional development within cybersecurity linked to Experience Management and AI.

• 5+ years in security operations, incident response, or related discipline including 2+ years in people-management or team-lead role
• Experience scaling a 24x7 CDU function (in-house, hybrid, or MSSP oversight)
• Strong technical grounding in SIEM, SOAR platforms, EDR, XDR, network and cloud security monitoring, MITRE ATT&CK framework
• Experience leading incident response for significant security events coordinating with legal, communications, and executives
• Proven ability to hire, develop, and retain security talent
• Excellent communication skills to translate technical detail into risk-based language for non-technical leaders
• Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and SaaS security operations

Nice to have:

• Experience in SaaS or enterprise software company handling customer data at scale
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, GDPR
• Relevant certifications like CISSP, GCIH, GCFA, CISM
• Experience building or maturing threat detection and hunting programs
• Background in scripting/automation with Python, PowerShell to support SOAR workflows

• Respond in a Tier 2 role including 24x7 monitoring, detection, triage, and incident response functions
• Support and develop CDU metrics and KPIs such as MTTD, MTTR, alert volume/fidelity, and report on program health
• Drive continuous improvement of detection logic, playbooks, and automation with detection engineering and threat intelligence teams
• Serve as escalation point and incident commander for high-severity security incidents, coordinating cross-functional response
• Partner with Threat Intelligence, Detection Engineering, IT, Legal, and Product/Engineering teams to close gaps in visibility and response
• Manage relationships with outsourced/MSSP or co-managed CDU partners ensuring SLAs and quality standards
• Evaluate and help select CDU tooling including SIEM, SOAR, EDR, XDR, ticketing, and drive adoption of automation
• Own CDU-related audit, compliance, and customer trust requirements such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP
• Build and maintain incident response runbooks, tabletop exercises, and post-incident review processes
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide leadership presence during major security events
