Senior Software Engineer 5 — Validation & Safety Platform

Netflix is a global entertainment service with over 300 million paid members in more than 190 countries who watch TV series, films, and games. The Validation & Safety Platform team is part of the System Health, Validation & Insights Platform group within Productivity Engineering, tasked with catching safety and correctness regressions in human-written or agent-generated code before deployment.

• Experience building and operating a platform used by other engineering teams.
• Ability to make product decisions regarding platform ownership and API exposure.
• Advanced user of agentic coding tools such as hooks, MCPs, and context management.
• Understanding of agent sandboxing, scoping, and redaction from a security perspective.
• Strong communication skills to document technical tradeoffs for diverse stakeholders.
• Advocacy for a strong testing culture including familiarity with test frameworks, code coverage, CI systems, and post-deployment verification.

Nice to have:

• Experience designing or operating developer-platform infrastructure like distribution, CI/CD, or versioning systems.
• Experience with LLM-based evaluation systems (e.g., LLM-as-judge, agent trajectory scoring).
• Experience with mutation testing, static analysis, or test-selection systems at scale.
• Hands-on experience sandboxing or scoping agent access to sensitive systems or data.

• Design and build platform-wide validation and safety products, including test generation, coverage, safeguards, deterministic and predictive test selection, and mutation testing at scale.
• Build a polyglot static analysis layer for automated, language-agnostic quality gates on agent-generated code.
• Develop agent-specific safety signals to detect prompt flakiness, evaluate agent trajectories against execution traces, and score semantic correctness of agent-generated code.
• Define clear platform capabilities and make build-vs-buy and build-vs-extend decisions as the platform evolves.
• Apply security-conscious judgment on agent sandboxing, scoping, and data redaction for access to test infrastructure and execution environments.
