COO - Global Head of Business Operations, MD - State Street Investment Management

State Street Investment Management (SSIM) provides investment management and financial services to institutional investors globally. The role operates within SSIM's global COO organization, coordinating business management, strategic execution, Finance Technology, and organizational transformation.

• At least 10 years of progressive executive leadership experience in strategy, global program/portfolio execution, and people management.
• Success leading high-performing, cross-organizational teams in complex global environments.
• Significant experience leading technology, finance transformation, or finance systems teams.
• Experience transforming organizations to product operating models including roles, financial planning, processes, and governance.
• Proven leadership in enabling agile delivery and translating priorities into measurable outcomes.
• Experience leading enterprise AI-enabled transformation embedding AI into workflows and driving adoption.
• Investment management experience required.
• Preferred experience in investment management finance and fund-related technology.
• International experience preferred.
• Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree or professional certification such as MBA or CFA preferred.
• Strategic, financial, and commercial acumen.
• Strong knowledge of investment management, operational, data, and technology capabilities.
• Exceptional program management, analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Business Management of the COO Organization:

• Set strategic and operational objectives aligned with SSIM priorities in partnership with the COO.
• Track performance, identify variances and issues, and develop corrective actions with COO leadership.
• Build relationships across the COO executive leadership team and broader organization.
• Identify and implement process improvements and organizational optimization opportunities.
• Develop productivity and efficiency metrics, business scorecards, and executive reporting.
• Lead the COO quarterly business review process ensuring timely completion of actions.
• Represent the COO on relevant regional and global operating committees.
• Coordinate meeting scheduling and follow-up alongside the COO’s Executive Assistant.

Strategic Initiatives:

• Coordinate and manage projects tied to COO priorities, maintaining an inventory of critical-path initiatives.
• Co-lead the annual COO strategic investment prioritization process in partnership with Finance and COO leadership.
• Lead confidential, time-sensitive projects assigned by the COO delivering high-quality results.
• Partner with the Transformation team on initiatives driving operational efficiency and improving client and employee experience.

Annual Budget and Strategic Plan:

• Partner with CEO’s Office and SSIM Finance on annual budget and mid-year forecast with COO leadership.
• Manage budget requests, develop operating metrics and dashboards, and establish operational reviews.
• Collaborate on strategic plan development and off-cycle adjustments.

Finance Technology Leadership and Ownership:

• Own strategy, operating model, and roadmap for the Finance Technology team supporting SSIM Finance and business.
• Lead and develop Finance Technology team aligning with Finance and SSIM objectives.
• Partner with multiple teams to translate business priorities into scalable technology capabilities.
• Oversee technology supporting financial planning, management reporting, and business performance analytics.
• Govern Finance Technology portfolio including demand intake, prioritization, investment cases, and benefits realization.
• Drive modernization and simplification of finance platforms and reporting processes.
• Define Finance Technology architecture and data strategy promoting reusable data products.
• Manage relationships with strategic technology vendors ensuring service performance and value realization.
• Ensure alignment of finance technology delivery with enterprise standards, security, and governance.
• Serve as senior technology partner to IM Finance leadership providing portfolio reporting and decision support.

Communications and Employee Engagement:

• Define and execute COO communications strategy to articulate vision and strengthen engagement.
• Develop executive materials for presentations, town halls, client meetings, and strategic forums.
• Partner with COO leadership and HR to develop and implement employee engagement action plans.
• Lead change management and organizational transformation efforts.
