Software Engineer Manager, Pixel Kernel and Codebase

The Google Pixel team develops premium mobile devices and services showcasing the potential of the Android platform. The Platforms and Devices team develops computing software platforms across desktop, mobile, applications, and first party devices combining Google AI, software, and hardware for innovative user experiences globally.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of software development experience.
• 3 years experience with embedded operating systems.
• 3 years experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years experience in people management or team leadership.
• Experience with Linux/Kernel development.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
• 3 years experience in a complex, matrixed organization.
• Experience with Android BSP, Android Internals, and Android Kernel.

• Lead a team responsible for delivering Pixel kernels with a focus on quality and velocity.
• Define team strategy, manage project goals, and provide technical leadership.
• Set clear expectations, meet with individuals regularly to discuss performance, provide feedback and coaching.
• Collaborate with global teams, set and communicate team priorities supporting organizational goals.
