Mid/Senior Java Backend Engineer - Insurance

You'll join an international team (Scandinavia / Belgium / Poland) building and developing proprietary, scalable Enterprise-class platforms for the global insurance sector. Our systems manage the full policy lifecycle and claims settlement processes end to end, handling millions of operations per month - including financial settlement, accounting, investment fund, and claims modules (FIN/FUN/CLAIMS).

• 5+ years of commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot
• Strong skills designing high-performance REST APIs
• Openness to learning and working with Angular (TypeScript)
• Practical knowledge of document databases (e.g. MongoDB) and relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle)
• Architectural thinking with knowledge of SOLID principles and Clean Code
• English at B2 level or higher
• Polish at A1/A2 level
• Openness to AI-assisted programming in the Spec Driven Development model

Nice to have:

• Experience with Docker, ElasticSearch/Kibana
• Understanding of insurance product specifics, claims settlement processes, or market regulations
• Practical knowledge of DDD (Domain-Driven Design) or Event-Driven Architecture

• Design and develop backend services in Java (Spring Boot) for financial settlement, accounting, investment fund, and claims-handling modules
• Build and maintain high-performance REST APIs and integrations with external service providers
• Own architecture and code quality, including Clean Code practices, design patterns, and code reviews
• Collaborate with the team (BA, QA, Frontend, Scrum Master) in Agile/Scrum/SAFe methodologies
• Gradually get involved with the frontend (Angular/TypeScript) as project needs arise
