Staff Software Engineer (Python)

We are a cybersecurity company building products that keep Linux systems secure and supported. Their software helps organizations running Linux infrastructure stay protected against known vulnerabilities and supports operating systems and tools past their standard maintenance period.

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including Staff, Principal, or Tech Lead level
• Strong, recent hands-on experience in backend software development
• Proficiency in Python or readiness to make it your primary language
• Practical Linux knowledge
• Experience taking projects from initial ideas through architecture, implementation, and production support
• Experience communicating with business and product stakeholders to turn ambiguous ideas into technical plans
• Strong architecture and technical decision-making experience combined with personal implementation
• Experience defining scope, priorities, and trade-offs of technical solutions
• Ability to monitor solutions post-release and iterate based on metrics
• Experience in fast-moving startups and larger established companies
• Active use of AI-assisted development tools with a clear validation approach
• Excellent English communication skills

Nice to have:

• Experience in cybersecurity or application security
• Experience with vulnerability management, security patching, or CVE-related work
• Familiarity with software supply chain security
• Experience with OS internals or low-level Linux development
• Contributions to open-source software
• Experience building developer tooling

• Take unclear business and technical problems from initial idea to production solution
• Clarify requirements and agree on technical plans directly with business and product stakeholders
• Design solution architecture and make key technical decisions
• Implement and ship backend code, primarily in Python
• Define the scope, priorities, and trade-offs of the solutions you build
• Develop products that keep Linux infrastructure secure and supported, including systems past their standard lifecycle
• Act as primary engineer on initiatives within your product area
• Monitor solutions after release and iterate based on technical, product, and business metrics
• Debug, prototype, and review code daily
• Use AI-assisted tools in development workflow and validate their output before shipping
