System Engineer (f/m)

At Bosch, we invent high-quality technologies and services worldwide. The role is part of the global infrastructure team at Bosch Digital, managing enterprise compute and virtualization platforms across multiple regions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, and VMware vSAN.
• Knowledge of enterprise storage concepts including SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel, and iSCSI.
• Engineering experience with Linux distributions: RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian.
• Understanding of networking, OS storage (LVM, multipathing), and directory services (Kerberos, AD, PAM).
• Technical knowledge of x86 server hardware, remote management tools (HPE iLO, OneView), diagnostics, and hardware lifecycle.
• Experience in automation using Ansible, shell scripting (Bash), or Python.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting skills, and ability to work in a distributed global team.
• Fluent English spoken and written.

Nice to have:

• VMware certifications (VCP, VCAP) or Red Hat certifications (RHCSA, RHCE).
• Vendor-specific x86 hardware certifications or experience with HPE platforms.
• Familiarity with patch management tools (Red Hat Satellite, SUSE Manager, BigFix).
• Understanding of Agile, ITIL, DevOps, and SRE methodologies.

• Manage and develop large VMware vSphere / vSAN clusters and vCenter as part of global 3rd-level engineering.
• Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle of enterprise Linux systems (Ubuntu/Debian, RHEL).
• Develop Ansible playbooks/roles, scripts, and CI/CD pipelines for automation.
• Manage and maintain x86 server hardware portfolio including collaboration with vendors like HPE.
• Design, maintain, and optimize software-defined storage (vSAN) and enterprise storage (SAN/NAS).
• Act as escalation for complex technical issues across hardware, hypervisor, OS, and storage layers.
• Implement industry-standard security hardening and identity integration (AD, PAM, Kerberos).
• Optimize infrastructure monitoring using Grafana, Nagios, and Icinga.
• Provide technical consultancy and architecture recommendations for compute, storage, and virtualization needs.
