Senior Fullstack Engineer, Automate

The Automate team at Box is focused on building a workflow automation platform that empowers users to automate business processes without coding.

• 5+ years of professional software development experience with full-stack expertise.
• Strong proficiency in Java, React, and TypeScript.
• Deep understanding of object-oriented design principles, REST APIs, and modern web development.
• Experience building scalable backend systems including database design, caching, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Ability to influence technical direction through RFCs, design docs, or cross-team collaboration.
• Proven project milestone delivery and fluent written and verbal English skills.

Nice to have:

• Experience with workflow automation, business process management, or integration platforms.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and DevOps practices.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects and mentoring junior engineers.
• Experience with enterprise integrations and API design.
• Contributions to open-source or strong software craftsmanship passion.

• Design and implement features for the Box Automate platform focusing on backend architecture and distributed systems.
• Develop and optimize backend services ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Build responsive user interfaces in React/TypeScript for automated workflow management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver features.
• Participate in code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to best practices.
• Participate in on-call rotation to respond to production incidents.
• Attend weekly stand-ups, team meetings, and manager 1:1s for alignment and improvement.
