Engineering Manager, Frontend (Maternity Cover)

Cleeng is a company working on unique, market-leading SaaS products with clients across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. The team is international, including members in Amsterdam (HQ), Poznań, Manila, and NYC, representing 16 nationalities. The company focuses on subscriber management technology with AI at the heart of their innovation strategy.

• 6+ years of experience building production frontend applications with deep experience in React and advanced TypeScript.
• Agentic development workflow expertise including daily use and configuration of Claude Code, OpenCode, or equivalent for production code, multi-step tasks, and parallel sessions.
• Proven ability to configure agent harnesses: agent instructions, subagents, MCP servers, tool permissions, and CI checks.
• Critical review skills for generated code to accept, correct, or reject appropriately.
• Experience with Node.js and BFF patterns, REST API design, and automated testing using Playwright and Jest.
• Technical leadership demonstrated by mentoring, setting standards, owning codebase areas, and leading squads.
• Ownership of features from ticket to production with focus on quality and reliability.
• Clear written communication and autonomy in a remote-first, agile team; proficiency in English at C1 level.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Next.js and server-side rendering.
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud environments.
• Experience in subscription, billing, or payments domains.

• Ship code hands-on in React and TypeScript and drive tasks with agents.
• Own the agent harness for frontend including configuration of Claude Code, OpenCode, agent instruction files, subagents, MCP servers, hooks, and permissions.
• Raise the team's agentic ceiling by pairing, demoing, and improving documentation, conventions, tests, and tooling.
• Own correctness, design quality, and security of merged code, setting the review bar for agent-written code with CI gates.
• Hold delivery responsibility for frontend squad scope including sprint commitments, estimates, and quality-speed trade-offs.
• Manage day-to-day group activities such as 1:1s, standups, and unblocking in a light-touch manner.
• Monitor and take part in operational health with dashboards and alerts for shipped features.
• Take structured handover from Lead Frontend Engineer and return it upon her return.
