Lead Product Owner – Agentic API Design & Governance

Sabre is an AI-native technology leader in the travel sector, backed by one of the world’s largest travel data clouds. It operates an open, modular, cloud-native architecture serving airlines, hoteliers, agencies, and other partners to retail, distribute, and fulfill travel worldwide.

• 7+ years comprehensive software development and technical product management experience.
• Recent direct experience (last 12 months) in bringing agentic/AI solutions to market, defining standards, documentation, and measurement frameworks for AI-driven tools.
• Proven record in setting up API governance structures and cross-company quality initiatives.
• Hands-on experience with legacy and modern API standards including SOAP, REST, gRPC, and RPC.
• Deep expertise in producing OpenAPI Specification files and working with API-First Service Frameworks.
• Strong understanding of Large Language Model constraints, including token limits, prompt security, and JSON payload parsing.
• Ability to enforce consistent data taxonomy, naming conventions, and scalable self-referencing patterns.
• Experience ensuring clear documentation for a global developer audience.
• Comfortable in multi-stakeholder environments with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

API Governance & Agentic Standards Strategy:

• Define and enforce Sabre API governance standards and methodologies.
• Establish and govern Agentic-Ready API design standards aligning ecosystem architecture with business intent.
• Set strategic guardrails for secure and efficient AI integrations considering context window limits, payload optimization, and prompt security.
• Enforce structural rules for API payloads to ensure effective Large Language Model interaction.
• Coach API teams during design reviews focusing on consumer adoption and portfolio consistency.

Documentation & Developer Experience (DX):

• Advocate for APIs as products with curated, self-serve external documentation.
• Oversee API examples covering critical developer and agent use cases.
• Govern documentation quality to optimize for LLM consumption and prevent misinterpretation.
• Mandate scenario-rich, realistic examples for human and AI developers.
• Oversee supplemental developer artifacts like User Guides, interactive collections, Migration Guides, and Workflow demonstrations.

Technical Transformation & Execution:

• Lead transformation from legacy standards (e.g., SOAP) to modern RESTful, RPC, and Agentic-Ready APIs.
• Oversee production of OpenAPI Specification files ensuring strict quality standards.
• Guarantee backwards compatibility, versioning, and safe architectural practices.
