Engineering Manager, Frontend (maternity cover)

Clients include industry leaders such as the NHL, Big Ten Network, The Weather Channel, TOD/BeIN, and NHK.

• Daily, fluent use of agentic development workflows with Claude Code, OpenCode, or equivalent on production code including multi-step tasks and parallel sessions.
• Experience configuring agent harness components such as agent instructions, subagents, MCP servers, tool permissions, and CI checks for agent output.
• At least 6 years of experience building production frontend applications using React and advanced TypeScript.
• Ability to critically review AI-generated code and decide when to accept, correct, or reject it.
• Knowledge of Node.js, Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) patterns, REST API design.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks Playwright and Jest.
• Demonstrated technical leadership through mentoring, setting standards, owning codebase areas, and leading squads.
• Ownership of features from ticket to production with a focus on quality and reliability.
• Clear written communication skills, autonomy in a remote-first agile team.
• English language proficiency at C1 level.

• Ship code hands-on using React and TypeScript, working directly with tickets and leveraging AI coding agents.
• Own the frontend agent harness including Claude Code, OpenCode configuration, agent instruction files, subagents, MCP servers, hooks, and permissions.
• Improve the team's use of coding agents via pairing, demos, documentation, and tooling enhancements.
• Review and ensure correctness, design quality, and security of merged code from any source, setting review standards backed by CI gates.
• Manage sprint commitments, estimates, and balance speed and quality for frontend scope.
• Conduct the group's daily operations including 1:1s, standups, and unblocking issues, with a light-touch approach.
• Monitor operational health by launching features with dashboards and alerts.
• Take handover from the Lead Frontend Engineer before leave starts and provide a clean handover upon return.
