Senior Java Developer (Senior Software Engineer)

Sopra Steria is a major European tech company specializing in consulting, digital services, and software development, operating in nearly 30 countries with over 55,000 employees. The Polish branch in Katowice functions as a Global Delivery Center with about 1,000 specialists since 2007. The company’s Digital Platform Services department focuses on cloud, operating systems, virtualization, databases, backup/storage, networking, and security, while the Application Services department handles software development, data engineering, testing, CRM, ITSM, ERP integrations, and application management for clients across Scandinavia, Benelux, France, Germany, Switzerland, and the UK.

• 5+ years of commercial experience in a senior or senior-ready role
• Strong experience with Java 8–21 (including newer versions depending on the module)
• Knowledge of Spring 5.2 and Spring Boot 2.3
• Proficiency with Git and GitHub
• Analytical and problem-solving mindset
• Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
• Proactive and detail-oriented
• Ability to document processes and share knowledge effectively
• English and Polish at B2 level or higher for fluent communication
• Openness to occasional business trips abroad and regular visits to the Katowice office

Nice to have:

• Proficiency in French
• Hands-on knowledge of Neo4j 4.4–5.X or other graph databases
• Knowledge of Elasticsearch 7.17–8.X
• Experience with Cloud Code and GitHub Copilot

• Design, implement, and deliver high-quality software solutions
• Translate business and technical requirements into clean, efficient code
• Develop, test, and maintain application modules and services
• Apply clean code standards and performance optimization best practices
• Participate in code reviews, unit, and integration testing
• Collaborate closely with technical leaders, clients, and cross-functional teams
• Contribute to problem-solving and technical discussions
