Data Engineer GCP (Governance)

Strategic data transformation project for a large Polish telecommunications company, involving migration of analytic environments from on-premise infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and building a modern data platform supporting business processes, analytics, and future AI/LLM solutions.

• 3–5 years of experience in GCP as Data Engineer or Data Governance Engineer.
• 3–5 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Data Quality.
• Practical knowledge of GCP, especially BigQuery, Dataplex, and Data Catalog.
• Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization, aggregation creation, and index management.
• Experience in data modeling and working with metadata.
• Knowledge of Data Lineage, Data Quality, Data Stewardship, and Data Ownership.
• Experience preparing technical documentation and performing code review.
• Ability to collaborate with business, technical, and analytical teams.
• Proactivity, responsibility, and focus on data quality.
• English language proficiency at the B1/B2 level.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of Apache Spark, Python.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform.
• Experience with Looker.
• Knowledge of Vertex AI.
• Experience designing data architectures.
• Knowledge of batch and streaming data processing.
• Experience with CI/CD and monitoring/SLO.
• Interest in AI/LLM solutions.
• Experience in migrating analytic environments to the cloud.

• Designing and implementing Data Governance processes and standards in the GCP environment.
• Building and developing a data catalog and managing metadata.
• Defining metadata models, data catalog structures, and relationships between objects.
• Implementing mechanisms for Data Lineage, Data Quality, and Data Ownership.
• Creating and enforcing standards and policies for data access management.
• Collaborating with Data Engineering, BI teams, and business data owners.
• Supporting business users in searching, understanding, and utilizing data.
• Participating in defining and implementing Data Contracts and data exchange standards.
• Preparing technical documentation, processes, standards, and data models.
