Senior Software Engineer

Bayer is a company operating in a regulated Pharma R&D environment focused on solving global health challenges. The role is part of the Digital Hub Warsaw team.

• Excellent university degree in Computer Science or equivalent natural science degree.
• 5–8+ years of professional experience with expert-level skills in at least two modern programming languages such as Python, Kotlin, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with backend development and/or frontend frameworks such as React.js.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, containerization, and serverless architecture.
• Hands-on expertise in data engineering and/or data science.
• Deep understanding of Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
• Ability to make technical decisions in ambiguous problem spaces.
• Proven experience leading engineering initiatives and mentoring others.
• Plus: experience working with natural scientists and in regulated environments (e.g., GxP).

• Design, develop, and continuously deploy complex full stack technical solutions in a regulated Pharma R&D environment.
• Drive architectural decisions for scalable systems and contribute hands-on development.
• Collaborate in cross-functional teams with IT and R&D experts in biology, chemistry, and pharmacology.
• Define and execute a technical vision focused on business value for R&D applications.
• Identify technical risks and gaps, propose solutions, and guide the team towards robust implementations.
• Mentor engineers and support their technical growth across teams.
• Introduce new technologies and improve engineering workflows.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve code quality and delivery speed.
• Combine technical expertise with scientific understanding such as computational biology or chemistry.

At Bayer, the minimum monthly gross compensation for this role is 20,240 PLN gross with final pay determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal alignment. The position is eligible for variable pay components such as performance-based bonuses awarded according to role and compensation structure.
