Podsumowanie oferty

The Director of Engineering leads the Cloud Engineering, Container Platform, and Infrastructure Security teams supporting Remitly’s global remittance business. The role sets the multi-year direction for Builder Infrastructure, including AI-operated infrastructure, cloud and container platforms, and security.

Wymagania

A point of view grounded in practice on how AI agents change infrastructure operations and the teams that run them.
Experience leading multiple infrastructure or platform teams through engineering managers, ideally across countries and time zones.
A track record of setting and delivering a multi-year infrastructure strategy that changed how an engineering organization builds and ships.
Experience designing engineering organizations, setting team boundaries, planning headcount across geographies, and raising engineering management quality.
Experience scaling infrastructure ahead of business growth with sublinear headcount through automation, self-service, and API-driven control planes.
Depth across cloud, container, and identity systems to review large-scale designs and explain how approaches have evolved.
Experience running infrastructure in a regulated environment, with security and compliance treated as design constraints from the start.
Credibility with C-suite executives and ability to translate infrastructure risk, cost, and investment into business terms.

Obowiązki

Define the Builder Infrastructure strategy and translate it into domain goals for managers.
Design team boundaries, ownership models, and workforce plans across Krakow and the US.
Lead and develop engineering managers and senior engineers; build succession plans.
Run infrastructure as a product, with paved roads and published APIs, measuring adoption, lead time, and toil.
Set the direction for AI-operated infrastructure, with agents provisioning, patching, upgrading, and remediating within policy.
Own platform security implementation, from least-privilege identity to hardened images that are continuously rebuilt and rolled out.
Make tradeoff decisions across reliability, security, cost, and delivery speed; balance investment in new capabilities and technical debt.
Manage infrastructure spend with finance and engineering leadership.
Partner with Security, SRE, Builder Experience, and product engineering leaders, and represent the domain to the executive team.
Establish mechanisms to monitor team health, delivery, and operational quality.

Skills and technologies:

Set direction for agentic infrastructure operations using LLM agents and MCP integrations, with guardrails, audit trails, and approval flows.
Oversee cloud foundations on AWS, GCP, or Azure, including multi-account governance, IaC, API-driven control planes, and multi-region and edge networking.
Oversee Kubernetes fleet management, including multi-cluster operations, lifecycle and upgrades, autoscaling, and GitOps delivery.
Set direction for Istio service mesh, including ambient mode, traffic management, mTLS, and zero-trust service-to-service communication.
Oversee identity systems including IAM, SPIFFE/SPIRE, and EKS Pod Identity.
Oversee image and supply-chain security, including CIS, SBOMs, Sigstore, SLSA, and automated patching.
Oversee policy as code and admission control using OPA Gatekeeper and Kyverno.
Apply FinOps unit economics and financial services compliance frameworks, including PCI DSS and SOC 2.
