Podsumowanie oferty

Lead development of Edge, Zyte’s custom residential-device network for web data collection. Build and operate its cross-platform peer runtime across Windows, Android, Linux, and eventually macOS, using Rust and native platform integrations as part of the Edge Platform squad.

Wymagania

5+ years of production Rust experience, with a track record of shipping and maintaining software end-to-end.
Experience shipping Rust code on at least two platforms among Windows, macOS, and Android, including at least one mobile platform; understanding of OS permissions, processes, and background behavior.
Experience interfacing Rust with C/C++ libraries and native OS APIs (JNI/NDK, Win32, POSIX), including lifetimes, memory ownership, and cross-language threading.
Thorough understanding of TCP, TLS, and HTTP protocols down to the packet level, including dissecting network traffic and analyzing client fingerprint differences.
Ability to instrument software and measure fleet health without direct device access, with operational experience in on-call work.
Security-conscious approach to running code on third-party devices.
Excellent written communication skills suited to a distributed, remote-first team.
Curiosity about reverse engineering protocols, exploring binaries, and understanding complex systems.

Nice to have:

Experience building or running proxy networks, peer-to-peer applications, or device farms.
Experience with Chromium, Cronet, Firefox networking, or anti-detection technologies.
Experience designing schedulers, orchestrators, or control planes for large-scale fleets.
Familiarity with the technical nuances and challenges of web scraping at scale.
Active participation in Rust, networking, or mobile open-source communities.

Obowiązki

Build the cross-platform Rust peer binary for Windows, Android, Linux, and eventually macOS, handling process lifecycles, background tasks, networking, automatic updates, and stability on unmanaged hardware.
Port the peer to Android using NDK/JNI, integrating real and emulated device farms into the fleet while handling foreground services, battery optimizations, and mobile network quirks.
Integrate the Chromium network stack (Cronet, C++) and browserless HTTP clients into well-tested Rust libraries with safe runtime contracts.
Gather hardware and OS reconnaissance from the fleet, map TCP/TLS/HTTP fingerprints, and share insights with the Browser and Antiban teams.
Build per-device metrics for uptime, drop-off rates, bandwidth, and success rates.
Add peer-level support for tasks such as captcha solving and browser rendering, while keeping the peer isolated from untrusted pages and hosts.
Join the team’s on-call rotation, run post-mortems, and turn operational lessons into software and deployment improvements.
Author RFDs, review architectural designs, and set standards for cross-platform Rust development and delivery at Zyte.
