Podsumowanie oferty

Provide technical support for KernelCare’s Linux live-patching products, investigating complex kernel issues and supporting enterprise customers. The role focuses on Linux kernel crash analysis, patch investigations, and working with the patch team to resolve root causes.

Wymagania

Strong knowledge of Linux kernel internals, including memory management (MM), VFS, networking, scheduling, and locking mechanisms.
Hands-on experience with Linux kernel crash analysis, including crash, vmcore analysis, and kernel oops decoding.
Good C programming skills and the ability to read and analyze Linux kernel code and patches to identify root causes.
Experience working with vendor security advisories (RHSA, USN, DSA) and kernel changelogs, including Git history.
Experience handling critical production incidents and technical escalations for enterprise customers, and clearly communicating technical issues and investigation progress.
Excellent written English communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings clearly and concisely.

Nice to have:

Familiarity with Linux live-patching technologies: kpatch, livepatch, and ksplice.
Experience with virtualization and container technologies, including Proxmox, KVM, OpenVZ, LVE, and cgroups.
Experience using Python and shell scripting for automation, troubleshooting, and log analysis.
Familiarity with AI/LLM tools for debugging and technical investigations.
Experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).

Obowiązki

Analyze live-patching-related crashes, hangs, and reboots using oops and panic logs, vmcore with the crash tool, and KASAN reports; determine whether live patching caused the issue and explain the finding to the customer.
Investigate patching problems, including apply failures, stuck transitions, unknown symbols, and freeze conflicts with backup tools.
Investigate missing patches and requests for support for new kernels or distributions, and work with the patch team to add support.
Answer detailed CVE questions by checking patch sources, not only documentation.
Find root causes, provide clear reports to the patch team, and follow issues through to a fix.
Act as the named engineer for an enterprise customer during a Sev 1 incident, owning the case until it is closed.
Help during major CVE events.
