Data Architect with Azure and Databricks

• Strong hands-on experience designing and implementing data platforms on Azure and Databricks including performance tuning, security setup, automation, and data sharing.
• Proven expertise in SQL, PySpark, data modeling (3NF, star/snowflake schemas), and ELT/ETL design patterns utilizing tools like Azure Data Factory.
• Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages for data transformation, orchestration, and automation.
• Experience with advanced Databricks features such as Unity Catalog, MLflow, Jobs & Pipelines.
• Deep understanding of cloud data architecture principles including Data Lakehouse, Medallion architecture, API integration, and event-driven architecture.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Azure Databricks and Microsoft Fabric architecture and their core components.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices using tools like Git, Terraform, and Azure DevOps.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with machine learning or Generative AI integration within Databricks/Azure.
• Knowledge of modern data stack tools such as dbt, Power BI, Tableau, Looker.
• Exposure to data mesh or data fabric architectures.
• Understanding of cost optimization and FinOps.
• Knowledge of governance and compliance frameworks like GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2.
• Experience leading data modernization in large enterprises.
• Certifications: Databricks Associate/Professional, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure certifications.

• Design and implement cloud-based data warehousing and analytics solutions using Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and related services such as Power BI.
• Define best practices for data governance, security, performance optimization, and cost efficiency in Azure and Databricks environments.
• Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and cloud architects to deliver comprehensive data platform solutions.
• Integrate Databricks with the broader Azure ecosystem, including data lakes, AI/ML frameworks, reporting systems, and data catalogs like Unity Catalog and Purview.
• Advise clients on migration from legacy on-premises databases to Azure and Databricks architectures.
• Support pre-sales and solutioning activities including estimation, proof-of-concepts, and technology assessments.
• Stay current with advancements in Azure, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric and apply industry trends to projects.
• Collaborate with business analysts, source system experts, data architects, engineers, and product owners throughout project development.
• Propose and defend solutions balancing strategic development and existing architecture.
• Communicate and document work considering performance and cost factors in design decisions.
