Android Developer – Warsaw

QED is a tech company focused on public health and food security in Sub-Saharan Africa. They build digital infrastructure and AI for aid and scientific inquiry, including surveillance of HIV and malaria, and nutrient analysis of crops and soils at national scale in several African countries. Their funding comes from philanthropic and governmental organizations such as the Global Fund, Gates Foundation, CDC, and USAID.

• 4+ years of experience building Android applications deployed to the Play Store and actively used in production
• Experience with Kotlin for Android development and basics of Kotlin coroutines
• Experience with Android Jetpack
• Strong background in software engineering, version control, writing readable code and tests, robust design, and basic data structures and algorithms
• Working proficiency (≥C1) in English (speaking, reading, typing)
• Logical reasoning and ability to express ideas clearly
• Willingness and interest in working with people from other cultures
• Emotional resilience and social intelligence
• Care about the work being done
• Optimism at least sometimes, with useful pessimism

Nice to have:

• Prior experience leading a software engineering team
• Domain knowledge or interest in sustainable development goals, especially public health, agriculture, and assisting developing countries
• Experience with computer vision
• Experience with gRPC

• Build and maintain Android applications deployed to the Play Store and used in production environments
• Work on a mix of product, internal platform, and client integration projects
• Explore technologies beyond main expertise as encouraged
• Participate in optional travel to learn more about the problems being solved

Requires a full-time commitment physically based in Warsaw, Poland, with a hybrid of remote and in-person work throughout the week. At least 2-3 days per week in the office are expected.
