Software Engineering PhD Intern, 2027

Google is an engineering company hiring interns for software engineering roles within the EMEA region, focused on impactful projects across various Google products and large-scale systems.

• Currently enrolled in a PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical field in the EMEA region, in penultimate or final year.
• Experience working with data structures or algorithms during coursework, projects, research, internships, or practical experience.
• Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, Go.

Nice to have:

• Relevant practical or internship experience programming in C++, Java, Python, or Go.
• Research experience in algorithms, architecture, artificial intelligence, compilers, database, data mining, distributed systems, machine learning, networking, or systems.
• Practical experience with web application development, Unix/Linux, mobile application development, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, information retrieval, NLP, networking, developing large software systems, or security software development.
• Ability to complete a 13-17 week full-time internship in Poland starting in May, June, or July 2027.

• Research, conceive and develop software applications to extend and improve on Google's product offering.
• Contribute to a wide variety of projects using natural language processing, artificial intelligence, data compression, machine learning, and search technologies.
• Collaborate on scalability issues involving access to data and information.
• Utilize exposure to large-scale production software troubleshooting.
• Help maintain mission critical services.

This internship is intended for students enrolled in an accredited full-time PhD degree program in the EMEA region, located in Poland for the duration. Immigration sponsorship is not available.
