Full Stack Developer - Sr. Shopify Hydrogen Developer

We are a US-based e-commerce retailer operating multiple storefronts with a custom headless architecture including Shopify Hydrogen (React Router), Algolia for search, Storyblok for CMS, and a mature Django monolith handling ERP/PIM/CRM functions.

• 3+ years experience building custom eCommerce storefronts using Shopify Hydrogen, React, and React Router.
• Proven experience with headless commerce solutions and complex frontend functionality.
• Hands-on experience maintaining and extending Python/Django applications.
• Deep understanding of GraphQL APIs, REST integrations, and data synchronization among platforms like Shopify, ERP, CRM, and PIM.
• Success migrating legacy applications to modern architectures with minimal disruption.
• Experience with monolithic codebases integrating multiple business systems while maintaining data integrity.
• Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and cloud-hosted applications.
• Familiarity with Shopify Oxygen, edge platforms, containerized deployments, environment configuration, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
• Ability to write, debug, and optimize complex queries with Shopify's GraphQL APIs (Admin and Storefront).
• Ability to self-direct technical tasks and strategically escalate ambiguous requirements.
• Strong English communication skills for technical explanations to non-technical members.
• Full-time availability (40 hours/week).

Nice to Have:

• Experience in "Shopify-but-not-really-Shopify" environments requiring custom implementations.
• Experience migrating Liquid storefronts to Hydrogen.
• Experience managing large product catalogs (100K+ SKUs) and SEO-sensitive migrations.
• Familiarity with feed syndication, search integration (Algolia), or headless CMS (Storyblok) workflows.
• Experience with React Router outside Hydrogen contexts.

Hydrogen & Frontend Development:

• Build and maintain fully custom Shopify Hydrogen storefronts using React Router.
• Implement responsive UIs using HTML, CSS, and modern React.
• Manage migrations from legacy frontends to Hydrogen with data integrity.
• Debug and optimize data flow from React components through GraphQL to backend systems.

Backend Integration & API Work:

• Extend and maintain Python/Django code powering GraphQL API integrations.
• Build custom middleware and integrations for non-standard Shopify features.
• Modify data exchange layers and API endpoints as needed.
• Enhance monolithic Django codebase without breaking functionality.

Infrastructure & Deployment:

• Manage software-defined infrastructure for Hydrogen deployments.
• Build CI/CD pipelines, configure environments, automate releases to Oxygen or similar edge platforms.
• Own the deployment toolchain from development through production.
• Troubleshoot deployment and infrastructure issues.

Translation & Problem-Solving:

• Translate ambiguous business requests into technical approaches.
• Identify when requirements need escalation to CTO.
• Communicate technical constraints to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
