Manager, Software Engineering

BlackLine is a leading provider of cloud software automating the financial close process, founded in 2001. The role focuses on the AI-powered Invoice-to-Cash (I2C) solution, a market-leading platform for accounts receivable processes. The position is for the founding manager of the Business Intelligence & Analytics Engineering team in Krakow, part of BlackLine's growth focusing on data engineering, cloud data platforms, BI, analytics, and applied AI.

• Proven experience leading and growing engineering teams in a SaaS environment with multi-level seniority.
• Strong technical foundation in data engineering and analytics with hands-on experience in Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI/DAX, and dimensional or semantic data modeling.
• Solid grounding in application engineering with experience in scalable, secure services, preferably using C#/.NET, and integration with web applications like React, C#, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
• Awareness of or enthusiasm for building agentic AI/LLM experiences including HITL and HOTL patterns.
• Experience or aptitude for AI-augmented engineering environments using tools like Cursor and Claude.
• Ability to drive cross-functional delivery aligning engineering, product, and design teams.
• Strong people management skills including performance management and career development.
• Excellent communication skills to engage with senior leadership and distributed teams.
• High engineering standards for data quality, pipeline reliability, code quality, CI/CD, testing, and observability.

Nice to have:

• Experience establishing new engineering teams or offices.
• Experience migrating or modernizing cloud data warehouses (e.g., to Snowflake) and building embedded analytics.
• Hands-on exposure to agentic AI, LLM orchestration, or ML-driven decisioning in production.
• Background in regulated industries such as finance, accounting, or fintech.
• Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, particularly on Azure, and comfort with AWS or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of Responsible AI principles.
• Experience collaborating across time zones in distributed organizations.

• Build and scale the Krakow BI & Analytics Engineering Team through hiring, onboarding, and development.
• Deliver the Snowflake Analytics Platform including Fabric database mirroring, data modeling, semantic layers, and customer-facing Power BI dashboards.
• Lead the agentic AI experience roadmap, building HITL and HOTL AI agents on the BL 3.0 Agentic framework.
• Lead, coach, and grow the engineering team, managing career development and performance.
• Drive delivery and execution by partnering with Product Management to ensure high-quality, timely software and data product delivery.
• Champion AI-accelerated development workflows using tools like Cursor and Claude.
• Shape engineering culture and standards including data pipeline reliability, data quality, modeling standards, code quality, CI/CD, testing, and security.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and stakeholders to translate business goals into engineering plans.
• Contribute to strategic roadmap planning for product, data platform architecture, and AI direction.
• Sustain enterprise-grade quality ensuring reliability, performance, accuracy, and security for global SaaS platform outputs.
