Senior Software Engineer - React Native - Consumer

Payward is the parent company behind Kraken, NinjaTrader, Breakout, xStocks, Payward Services and CF Benchmarks, building one of the most modern and globally accessible financial infrastructure platforms to advance an open, global financial system. Kraken, founded in 2011, is a long-standing crypto platform trusted by over 10 million users globally, offering spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services for individual and institutional clients. The Consumer Mobile team develops the Kraken app primarily in React Native, focusing on making complex financial experiences intuitive, fast and trustworthy.

• Strong experience with React Native, capable of making architectural and implementation decisions in modern mobile codebases.
• Product-building mindset with strong product judgment, able to work from client problems and ambiguous requirements.
• Ability to demonstrate product impact using metrics, experimentation, and client behavior.
• Comfortable with end-to-end feature lifecycle: discovery, design, implementation, launch, measurement, and iteration.
• Experience with data-rich applications utilizing APIs and real-time data.
• Effective collaboration and communication skills in English with globally distributed teams.
• Versatility and proficiency using AI tools such as Cursor, Copilot, and Claude to accelerate work while maintaining ownership and quality.
• Proven track record of delivering measurable client impact from loosely defined product problems.

Nice to have:

• Experience in fintech, trading, crypto, payments, or financial technology.
• Understanding of trading, investing, or financial products.
• Experience building applications using real-time or streaming data.
• Experience across mobile and web platforms.
• Working experience in startup or small-to-medium-sized technology companies.
• Native mobile development experience in Swift or Kotlin and understanding when to dive below React Native.
• Experience improving application performance across mobile devices.
• Background in turning loosely defined problems into impactful products or features.

• Work across engineering, product, and design teams to turn client problems into thoughtful mobile experiences.
• Own features end-to-end from problem understanding to solution shaping, implementation, launch, and iteration using client feedback and data.
• Build high-quality experiences in React Native for financial products focusing on responsiveness, reliability, and trust.
• Partner early in the product-development process, contributing engineering perspectives.
• Work with APIs and real-time data to create responsive data-rich experiences, making decisions on state management, rendering, performance, and architecture.
• Demonstrate product ownership by raising the engineering bar, participating in technical discussions, code reviews, and collaboration.
