Senior IT Transition Project Manager – VMware to OpenShift Migration

Our client is a leader in enterprise IT solutions, engaged in a pivotal migration project from VMware vSphere to Red Hat OpenShift, focusing on cloud infrastructure transformation.

• Over 5 years of experience directing complex technology transformation and migration projects.
• Expertise in migrating workloads from VMware vSphere to Red Hat OpenShift.
• Strong knowledge of virtualization (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter) and container platforms (OpenShift).
• Skills in developing transition plans, managing dependencies, and mitigating risks.
• Experience with project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of German language (spoken).
• Certifications or experience in cloud architecture or project management frameworks.

• Lead the end-to-end migration lifecycle from discovery to legacy decommissioning.
• Develop and maintain a transition roadmap, coordinating across application, infrastructure, and security teams.
• Manage dependencies, risks, and project decisions to minimize disruption.
• Oversee functional, performance, and resilience testing.
• Coordinate operational handover including support models, documentation, and incident management.
• Communicate progress via status reports and steering-committee presentations.
• Ensure system stability, resilience, security, and high data quality.
• Support change-management activities and collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.
