Senior C++ Developer

Hitachi Energy operates in the power systems domain, focusing on software development for power grid management and monitoring systems.

• University degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field.
• More than 8 years experience in senior technical roles.
• Advanced proficiency in modern C++ (C++17/20), including RAII, smart pointers, STL, concurrency, and memory management.
• Practical knowledge of C# development is a plus.
• Strong experience with multithreading, synchronization primitives, asynchronous I/O, and real-time system design.
• Proficiency with build systems (CMake, Visual Studio) and cross-platform development targeting Windows and Linux.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
• Experience with performance profiling, optimization, and low-latency systems.
• Understanding of software architecture, secure and scalable system design.
• Knowledge of unit and integration testing techniques and testing frameworks.
• Familiarity with non-functional requirements like performance, scalability, and security.
• Practical experience with power grid management and monitoring systems, including familiarity with WAMS/WAMPAC, PMU data, protection and control applications.
• Understanding of power grid operations and applicable standards.
• Experience with industrial automation systems (SCADA, IED, RTU) is a plus.
• Experience with industrial protocols (IEC 61850, IEC-60870-5-104, DNP3, OPC UA, IEEE C37.118) is a plus.
• Experience working directly with power grid industry clients and system integration.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into clear technical designs.
• Knowledge of numerical methods, signal processing, and control fundamentals.
• Understanding of power system dynamics and stability challenges from renewable penetration.
• Strong communication skills and effective teamwork.
• Excellent command of English (written and spoken).

• Develop system design in multithreading, synchronization, I/O, and latency requirements to ensure real-time operation.
• Develop high-performance C++ cores interoperating with runtime services written in .NET and Rust with minimal latency.
• Implement performance optimization and scalability, profiling threading behavior, minimizing lock contention, and reducing memory allocations.
• Apply modern programming practices based on the latest C++ standards.
• Maintain high code quality through code reviews, unit testing, and adherence to SOLID, KISS, DRY, and best practices.
• Participate in technical architecture reviews, design documentation, and roadmaps for feature development and code modernization.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to convert requirements into architectural designs.
• Support technology decisions related to dependencies, build tooling, dependency management, and secure software supply chain.
• Maintain cross-platform support, ensuring consistency across deployment environments for Linux and Windows.
• Utilize practical Linux development and deployment strategies.
• Enhance existing systems and contribute to new feature creation.
• Work effectively in an agile environment and participate actively in a cross-disciplinary team.
